Chicago TEDxIIT A Formula for Innovation

The theme for TEDxIIT 2011 was "Break Through."

That's what innovation is all about. Break through the barrier, old belief and common perception.

As an IIT alum and a TEDx Speaker, there is nothing more exciting than seeing the dream of TEDxIIT event come true.

The dream that the students could organize an event with the speakers of their own choice, in a professional format, with the support of the school, IIT, Illinois Institute of Technology, and leave a permanent digital foot print.

Done.

The event was stream alive on TEDx.com website and was accessible to millions on line. The event fostered the relationship between the alumni and current students. The event bought the various departments together and started the interdisciplinary discussion. The event generated pride of being affiliated with IIT. The event planted seeds for many potential opportunities for collaboration.

Talking to the attendees, I was not surprised at all that there were many TED fans within the IIT community. We all share the common attitude of being open-minded, willingness to share, change, adapt and create. 

Innovation Is Ticking . . . Aha, that's IIT, isn't it?

TEDxIIT March 26 in Chicago

TED.com is a global event. TEDx is a global phenomenon.

Now the students of Illinois Institute of Technology will host the very first TEDxIIT on March 26, 2011, at Chicago Downtown campus, see TEDxIIT.com

It is free and open to all IIT community: Students, Alumni, Faculty Members, Staffs, spouses and family members. However, space is limited. Following the TED guidelines, all attendees must submit an application on line as soon as possible. That's because it is important to have people who really really want to be there and will be there, rain or snow.
Like typical TEDx events, you will listen and interact with the speakers and follow attendees. The best part is to experience the TED like conversation.
