WIFM? The Sound of Your Voice?

Many of us in Chicago area are so looking forward to attend a special program, "The Sound of Your Voice" by Kitty Kurth and Kevin Lampe of  KurthLampe.com on Thursday, Dec 9, from 6 to 9 pm at the IIT Rice Campus in Wheaton.

However, a few undecided had raised a great question, WIFM?

As the co-chair of the program, I take full responsibility for not listing the typical benefits of what you will get by attending this session in the previous blog. With 36-hours count down, I will explain the buzzzzz.

This wife-and-husband-team coach on pronunciation, intonation and the use of voice in a speech.
They will speak about the delivery of a speech follow by interactive exercises.

Kitty and Kevin are renown voice coaches working with International political, business and Hollywood figures. We feel that there are something that everyone could learn from them. Everyone who are communicators and wish to be better communicators.

Political opinions aside, no one could denial the power of the 2004 DNC speech that President Obama delivered. As Kevin Lampe, the speech coach who worked with Senator Obama then, said in an interview, he walked in as a senator pre-speech and walked out as a president to-be post speech.

It had been a big challenge to track them down and agreed to present. They adjusted their trip to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Brussels and London, in order to honor the commitment to present at our program.  As I am up loading this blog, they are flying over the Atlantic ocean, on their way back to Chicago.

Hope you all could join us, listen and learn about our own voices. This has been talked about as one of the few most attend program for everyone. Non-members are welcome.

If you are still undecided, show up anyway at 6 pm for a R & R. Attend a free reception. Then decide if you wish to register and join us at the auditorium.

Started at 8:15, Chris Hester, an Alliance Member talked about STC Chicago, Society for Technical Communication. After Networking for 45 minutes, our Chapter President, Maureen O'Brien, kicked off the day with new vision, new possibilities and new presence of NSA-IL.

Yours truely was the emcee of the day. To make the day more memorable, the attendees started Doing by Creating their very own colorful paper screen*.

Our speaker, David Newman, gave a fabulous program: 21 Strategies to Get Booked and Stay Booked. David is a marketing expert who works with speakers, consultants, and coaches who want to do a better job of marketing and get more FOCUS, more MOMENTUM, more CLIENTS and more FUN. Today's Google Doodle celebrated 115th birthday of the Xray, by posting a key to seeing the bones.

Ever want to take a look inside Google???     Google Solar  Array Mountain View, California  Today, Google employs 20,223 people around the world, receiving a resume every 25 seconds from eager job-seekers, hiring an average of nine new employees a day.  A full-size replica of Virgin Atlantic's Spaceship One (space tourist vehicle) hangs in the reception area. Exercise  To work off the pounds, and the stress . . .  Google has its own state-of-the-art gym . . . offering weight-training and a host of exercise machines, rowing machines, lockers and shower rooms, and two swim- in-place wave pools.  Other perks include free haircuts, dry cleaning and laundry, child care, car services, chiropractors and five onsite doctors available for employee check- ups; all free of charge.  Perhaps the most unusual bonus of all... employees can bring their dogs to work with them and keep the four-legged canine in their offices.  We already know that working for Google has certain advantages, but, believe me, this giant of a search engine takes the welfare of its employees seriously as shown by this decompression (stress) capsule that is impermeable to sound and light.... Stress capsule  Moving around the complex:  A slide allows quick access from different floors... There are also poles available.... they are similar to the ones used in fire stations.  Food  Employees can eat all they want for free from a vast choice of food and drink, whipped up by in-house chefs.  Typical Google Lunch  Cookie set-up  Work Station:  Each employee has at least two large screens.  There are 4-6 'Zooglers' per office.  Innovation:  Large boards are available just about everywhere because 'ideas don't always come when seated in the office'says one of Google's managers.  Leisure.  Pool tables, video games, etc. are available in many areas.  Communication.  On each floor, there are private cabin areas where employees attend to personal affairs.  Tech Stop  Having trouble with your computer?   No problem... Bring it to this area where drinks are available while it is being fixed...  Health:  Professional massage therapists are available. Rest ....  View relaxing aquariums on massage chairs that you control .... Ambiance.  There are many books in this library...even some about programming!  I would LOVE time out in this room!!   WELL, WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT GOOGLE NOW?
